The Wide Angle Shower Apparatus (WASA) has been transferred from the storage ring CELSIUS (TSL, Uppsala, Sweden) to the cooler synchrotron COSY (FZ Jülich, Germany). In this presentation, the status and planning of the WASAatCOSY project are reported. The main physics aspects are rare decays of η and η' mesons and isospin violation in deuteron-deuteron interactions.

The reaction dd → 3Henπ0 has been measured at a beam momentum of pd = 1.2 GeV/c using the WASA-at-COSY facility. For the first time data on the total cross section as well as differential distributions were obtained. The data are described with a phenomenological approach based on the combination of a quasi-free model and a partial wave expansion model for the three-body reaction.

Temperature effects on the electromagnetic couplings of pions in hot hadronic matter are studied with an effective chiral Lagrangian. We show that the Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied at non-zero temperature in the soft pion limit.
